How to do and what value you can bring. 600Million people in China-huge hidden market.   Greg Shea [RIM]: Netscape changed computing and connected ready users to internet. That's where we are now [in mobile]. RIM will have a fund next year [to fund applications]. Benjamin [MM]: What's the exit plan? Rodger: Small boom happening now We see more activity. Unicom contracts with Apple. People are looking for companies in the growth stage. That's a lof activity now. Benjamin: What's hot in Mobile today? Weihan Liu: Gprs increase - companies doing games - sns - are shor term. Ecommerce, local content tier 1 China. Tao Bao comes to mobile. Payment will change. Zhang: Take video out - do you need 3G? Its for video. It will take time for video app that users like to use enhanced advertising solutions over video. Lin up content to users plus advertising will really be significant and profitable in few years. Benjamin: Facebook application company plus iphone is the talk and investment in silicon valley. Are people really making money in mobile? Greg Shea: Converged eco system - divice plus content plus application-hats off to iphone with their own app world. quality apps are the best. Must be compelling apps more powerful cpu's, etc. More bandwidth intensive apps that mimic TV and this will drive demand [for 3G]. Greg Shea: Not like business will be delivered when 3G comes. Focus on your effectiveness on the 2G cuz then you will be greater on 3G. Weihan Liu: 3G wont take off in China until you have flat rate. Benjamin: Where is the best place to be in the value chain? What's the good position with more opportunities? Greg Shea: Apps, games, and ecommerce. mobile funding for ecommerce. People with clean effective efficient experience. If ou're from the west make sure you have a good Chinese partner because there will be areas that are grey. That is where the opportunities are. Rodger: Follow the crowd until something happens. Set up business until someone tells you you cant do it. Greg Shea: Asia listing in Shanghai indicate..;.unless something doesnt go sidways...you'll see listing of western companies in this country.
