Rumor: Multitasking coming to iPhone OS 4.0

Sorry, that was just my excited utterance upon reading Thursday morning’s AppleInsider story about iPhone OS 4.0. It cites “people with a proven track record” in claiming that multitasking will finally make its debut.

Multitasking, of course, refers to the operating system’s ability to run more than one app at a time and let you switch between them at will, just like you can do in Windows, Mac OS, Android, Palm WebOS, and just about every other OS on the planet–mobile or otherwise.

The iPhone OS currently offers limited multitasking: You can listen to music while, say, reading a book, and keep a phone call active while browsing in Safari, but that’s about it.

According to AppleInsider’s sources, “Apple plans to deliver a multitasking manager that leverages interface technology already bundled with its Mac OS X operating system.” Sounds good to me.

Of course, only Apple knows if, when, and how that will be implemented. Personally, I just want a way to organize my ever-increasing app library–though hopefully that will go hand-in-hand with whatever interface changes bring multitasking.

How about you? Are you champing at the bit for this long-overdue feature, or do you have other items on your wish list? Add spam folder to sbcglobal.net account

I have an email account from sbcglobal.net that I use quite frequently. When I retrieve my email on my iPhone using that account, I get ALL of the spam messages in addition to the messages I want to see.

All my other email accounts have spam folders, but for some reason, the sbcglobal.net does not. Is there any way I can add a spam folder on my iPhone to weed out the spam messages that arrive to my sbcglobal.net account?

I know that I’ve received numerous MMS video messages from other non-iPhones that my phone wouldn’t normally read if I tried to sync them up. Some of my other friends are stating this isn’t the case. AT&T does support content adaptation via the MMSC right? Or am I just crazy here…?

Possible hearing aid interference affecting dropped calls

Quick note to hearing impared. I have found that if I use the speakerphone feature on my 3Gs I GREATLY reduce the number of dropped calls when I call from my home in a semi fringe area. Very unscientific but the results don’t lie. My hearing aid is bluetooth enabled (I can answer calls through my hearing aid, how cool is that!) and I’m not sure if that is part of the issue. If you have dropped call issues and have a hearing aid… try it.
