Credit Check for Online Order

I recently ordered an Iphone from the AT&T website.  It did not say anything about a deposit.  I did receive an email with an order number and a receipt of charges, but again it did not mention a deposit.  Does anyone have any idea what their procedure is for deposits?  I have heard that some people do not find out about their deposit until they try to activate the phone.  I do not want that kind of surprise.  My credit is not bad, but I do really just do not have any credit and I have heard that can be worse.  Any advice would be appreciated.
