So, I misplaced my iPhone 3G today. Of course I have been searching all over the place trying to find a way to locate it without having to report it lost or stolen. If I choose the option to report it and it is completely turned off, how will I ever have the chance of finding it? If it is deactivated, how do I call it to try to locate it? I really do not want to choose that option until I am positive that it is not in my car, house, office, etc.
Â
I know it wasn’t stolen so it defeats the purpose of trying to find it if it is completely disabled. With today’s technology, I am having a hard time understanding why I can’t call Apple or At&t and have them access the settings to turn on the ringer if it is set to vibrate or enable the GPS if it is turned off. I also do not understand why I can’t remotely access the phone utilizing iTunes or my At&t account.
Â
I know, my bad for not buying the MobileMe service; however, if this is such a “Smartphone”, why wasn’t there something built in to locate it – prior to the MobileMe app?
Â
I am sure there are a lot of people out there like me – I didn’t expect to misplace the phone so why would I even think, or know about all the “find me” apps that I have come across in the gigantic waste of time and resources.
Â
Believe me, if there is an Iphone guru who has some magical words of wisdom, I am more than willing to take some good advice. If push comes to shove and I don’t come across it tomorrow, I’ll report it and lay down the coin for a new one. My life is in that little box of knowledge and at this point, I am not ready to give that up.
Â
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Someone please lead me in the right direction.
