Right on schedule, Sprint made Gingerbread available to any and all EVO 4G owners willing to check for the update manually (and if you’re a fan of this site, we suspect you are). As a PSA, you won’t just be getting Android 2.3, but also Gmail and SMS fixes, and a tweak for the phone’s power management software. We’ve been getting a flood of tips from delighted readers in various markets who report the upgrade went smoothly. Can’t be bothered to check for updates? You’ll likely get a prompt to download it on Monday. So, Froyo, good night and good luck, and to everyone else, happy Friday!

T-Mobile announces June availability for Samsung Exhibit 4G and Gravity Smart

We’ve heard rumblings that Samsung’s Exhibit 4G would be making its way to T-Mob on June 8, but now the carrier has confirmed that the Gingerbread smartphone will be available sometime in June. The Exhibit will join Samsung’s Gravity Smart, both featuring grounded sub-$ 100 price tags (after $ 50 rebate) when they hit stores. [...]

Is it possible to get a legally UNLOCK iPhone 4G through Apple or AT&T?    Orignal UNLOCK not Modified!!!!

Got the HTC EVO 4G from Sprint instead. Awesome phone, I am still apPle fan, but as far as phones go, this EVO is superior. IMHO.

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/iphone-4-upgrades-to-hsdpa-and-hsupa-can-double-3g-bandwidth-speeds/36336   I read this and it made me angry. Not only do people bad mouth the iPhone but they love to bad mouth AT&T and say Verizon is so much better. I have the iPhone 3GS and here around Kansas City I have been getting download speeds of up to 5Mbps since the start of the year. This article talks about the iPhone 3GS and the 4G getting up to 1MB download speeds and how crappy that is.   On top of that I see forums where people spout wrong information about the iPhone saying it has worse hardware than some low end or old phone they like. I am about convinced that the competitors are paying people to go on the forums and promote their products while trashing the competition.

I am upgrading from the 3G to the 4G and my order says that I will lose my voicemails and greeting when the new mailbox is created.  The voicemail isn’t a problem, however, my greeting is unreplaceable (to me anyway).  So I thought I would ask previous upgraders - will I really lose the actual greeting?    I looked up how to grab a copy of the file, but my phone shows up as a camera in explorer and I can’t seem to change that.    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For anyone wanting to know  how BB is handling them.   I purchased my phone from BB on June 1st. I heard about the exchange offer and waited till today to find out if they would honor it.   I just preordered paid $50 for the reservation and was told they do not honor AT & T policy because they are 3rd party. They will however honor an exchange within my 30 day exchange period, so as long as the phone gets to the store by the 1st of July I will be able to do it. The phone will only cost me the same $199 less trade in and $50 reservation fee and allegedly will not require me to lose my unlimited data plan.   BB Store was located in Lenexa, KS

I upgraded to an iPhone on Monday June 7th, as my BB was ready for an upgrade. Paid full price for a 3Gs, got home and saw the Steve Jobs announcement on the 4G. Getting different stories from the ATT store and from phone based customer support.  Phone based says, bring your phone back now and get the store to re-up the BB so that you don’t run the risk of scratching it… I go to the ATT store, they tell me that there are no worries, I can bring it back and exchange on the 24th for the new 4G. But—there is a 10% restocking charge.  This is ridiculous.  First off- if the salesperson knew about the 4G launch and didn’t mention it, then that was disingenuous. If they didn’t, then that is a major communications problem. I have 4 family members on wireless, 3 of them on Internet plans as well and AT&T is playing around with restocking fees? I’m very dissatisfied at the moment as it seems like no one at ATT has a clue as to what is going on, there are no managers available on the phone or at the store site. If ATT is truly concerned with customer service then they need to get a good policy in place and do it now.  I’ve wasted hours visiting the store and on the phone with this.  I’m getting tired of it.

heres a good question for ppl in my situatiion: i Have the Nexus One with the $30 unlimited plan for smartphones when and if the 4G comes to ATT i wanna get it if im going to get the 4g and its gonna be past June 7th, would i still be able to keep the $30 dollar Unlimited when i switch or am i sol?   I ask because im unclear how this will effect me  and possibly others due to the uncertainty of how smartphones and iphone data are going to be categorized as of June 7th ( since they are seperate data types )   thanks in advance

will there be an iphone 4g release this year around june? Does anyone know colors that will be available? will the 3gs’ price drop? or, is this all just a big rumor done by someone with good photoshop skills?   Thanks
