Won’t vibrate on Silent

Can’t figure out what I might be doing wrong as I have never had an issue with my other iphones.  Checked all my settings, which I do have Vibrate On in both sections.  But for some reason when I click the phone to silent, when a call comes through, the phone doesn’t vibrate.  Any thoughts on fixes for this?  thanks in advance.

Earphone Question

If I’m listening to music on my iPhone using “regular” earphones (no mic) and a call comes in, do I have to remove my earphones to hear the caller?  Or will the caller be heard through the regular earphones?   If the regular earphones work in this situation, does that mean the iPhone’s mic is live and I can hear through the earphones and talk via the phone’s mic?   Thanks, DJR
