Just swapped my Captivate for the iPhone 4 – Some parts of my building i get to 1 bar which is fine but sometimes i go to “no service” (Something that never happened on the captivate). When it goes to no service its like it gives up sitting in one place “no service” if i turn it off and then back on i go back to 4bars with 3g… i don’t understand why?

Also if i drop to Edge i never go back to 3g until i power cycle.

iphone 4 no service, iphone goes to no service, no service iphone 4, reason why no service iphone4, samsung captivate never has service

You wrote:    “I originally upgraded to a Samsung Captivate from my 3g. A day or so after activating my phone I had no data at all on the phone. I called customer care and found out that they accidentally took my data plan off of my account. The woman I talked with asked me what features I had before. When I told her I had unlimited data she then had to put me on hold to escalate a request to add that feature. She said they no longer had the option to put that feature on accounts anymore.   Point being, If this rep. I talked with is correct then they can’t add that feature anymore. They can however move it to the next level if you have a good enough reason for them to do so. Good Luck.”   ************************************************   I hope you, and anyone else who’s experience this, see this.  AT&T has no right to cancel your existing plan (unlimited nonetheless) and claim afterwards that they have no choice but to issue out a limited one in its place.   I had my plan cancelled when I wanted to try out the Samsung Captivate (~ July 25, bought it full price). When I decided, about 3 days later, that nothing beat the iPhone OS, I went and ordered the iPhone 4, and they told me my data option had been changed 3 days prior to a limited plan, tho’ I specifically reminded the rep who sold me the Captivate to not touch the plan; but whatever, mistakes happen. Anyway, I had them change it back on the spot – and they gave me no hassle.   Please do not let yourself be ripped off by accepting what this one lazy/uninformed rep told you, call them now and tell them you never wanted the unlimited plan changed and that you were misled to believe you had no other choice. But try to be nice about it.     Hope it works out for you and anyone else.

Wow, at least five people on the Forum that I have seen switched from the iPhone 4 to the Samsung Captivate since its debut. Probably because of the iPhone’s reception/antennae issues…   All I can say is, it’s a good thing that the phones were released pretty close to date with each other.   Is the Captivate really that much better than the iPhone 4?

Hi guys,   Just to give you some background on my issue. My iPhone 4 was having very low call volume (had the volume all the way up and yet putting it on speakerphone was the only way I could hear the other caller). So I decided to do a restore and roll it back to factory setting to see if that fixed the problem. Well, it COMPLETELY crashed my phone. Called Apple and after a number of steps, they decided that I needed to turn it in for a new one.   So, herein starts my problem.   I had been debating on exchanging my iPhone 4 under AT&T’s buyer’s remorse policy for the Samsung Captivate when it comes out later this month. The question is, now that I have to exchange this phone in for another iPhone, how does this affect this policy? I know their general policy is that you’re allowed to turn in the phone within the 30 days without paying restocking fees ONCE, and if you turn it in again you will incur restocking fees. Does exchanging my defective phone for a new working one at Apple apply as my first trade in?   Thanks for any help you can give me!
