According to a recent report, the iPhone 5 is already at carriers for testing. The rumor claims that the iPhone 5 is being transported in high security boxes and the phone has a shell on it to keep the real design a secret.

Apple was fined a scant $ 2,829 in South Korea for location tracking. The fine was levied by the South Korean telecom regulator for collecting data over almost a year even when location services were turned off.

Apple is looking for a new engineer to join its engineering team to work on iCloud. The new worker would work on iCloud and iOS 5 integration.

Sprint’s unlimited Data-text and voice plan compared with other carriers

With the last spot, Sprint is comparing the “real” unlimited data+voice+text plan with the other 3 mayor carrier. The Spot shows first Verizon and AT&T offering unlimited plan but really “cost too much”. After leave behind AT&T and Verizon, T-Mobile seams to offering the same unlimited plan that Sprint does. However, Sprint indicates that T-Mobile, [...]

Holland's net neutrality act threatens to disrupt mobile carriers' pricing schemes

Net neutrality advocates are gaining momentum in The Hague as Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Maxime Verhagen, agreed to begin drafting legislation prohibiting teleco providers from blocking or charging extra for specific data traffic. Verhagen’s action comes at the request of majority leaders in Netherland’s Lower House, which adopted a motion to modify the Telecommunications [...]

is anyone having trouble  recieveing texts  from other carriers  like cellsouth etc? i have the  iphone 3gs  the problem has been going on for two weeks  and  it appears to be happening with certain phone models

Why am I paying $699 to be a consistent, loyal customer (having upgraded to the 3GS when it came out – been on the iPhone since it came out)? Why is it (much) cheaper to break my contract, have to get another number, and then I can get the $299 price? “Just because” from customer service doesn’t cut it. I’m willing to pay $499, which is what I thought I would pay when all the pricing came out, but you better act fast AT&T, because I will remember this when other carriers come knocking.

I understand Facetime will only be available over wi-fi to begin with, but Apple is working some issues with the Carriers to allow it over 3G.   So, if and when Facetime is available over 3G, will it just use minutes or will it use some of the Data Plan limit?   If it will use Data when it is available over 3G, how many MB per minute of talk time? I’m trying to decide if the possible future use of Facetime over 3G will even be useful with the 2GB data plan.

-OS 4.0 Update? -New iPhone to be announced? -iPhones to other carriers? -Early upgrades for iPhone users? -Why I’m doing so many obvious and repetitive questions?   The WWDC will start and let’s hope all this questions will be answered. I know that a lot of users here will be following each minute of the event so I made this thread to discuss about the announcements that will be made by Steve Jobs in the conference.   Let’s have a good discussion and wait for the best.   (Anyway, I know there will be a lot of flamewars and angry people today ._.)

Wow. What a fiasco!!! I bought the iPhone only to find out that I can’t use it outside of US with other carriers. That makes the iPhone completely useless to me. Great job AT&T & Apple. Being a loyal customer for over 7 years – the only thing I can think of now is when I contract expires to I can switch to another company. Way to go!

Since it was obvious that AT&T failed to successfully and reliably enable MMS (notice I didn’t say successfully LAUNCH MMS) from hundreds of users on forums that I’ve read, I held off on upgrading.  I sifted through tons of tech notes, hints, tips, you name it.  I finally waited for 3.1.2 with the new carrier uprade from ATT.  I power-cycled, I even prayed to GOD ALMIGHTY ….and still no MMS outside of AT&T.  Oh sure, it works with the other AT&T users I tried, but it failed with the three other carriers that do happen to represent a large calling community. In fact, very few of my friends are with ATT and the ones who are are sorry they switched and just counting down the T-365 days to go back.  The worst offense was not being able to send or receive to Verizon users.  I even had them update their PRL profiles as was suggested on the Verizon forum — because YES – there is an ENTIRE Verizon forum dedicated to complaining that they can receive MMS from everyone in the Continental U.S. *except* Att users.  I’m in a major metro city in midwest with full coverage from almost all the carriers and not in some po-dunk little town with signal issues.   So what’s up with that? Perhaps its the IMEI file, but I haven’t gotten any ATT person to be able to check that yet. Has anyone successfully MMS’d (I’m talking about using the Phone icon at the bottom of the txt messaging window to attach a photo)someone to Verizon??  If so, what OS are you on (be specific), and what carrier upgrade are you on?  And did you have to call ATT first to make it work?  This is friggin frustrating.  MMS is not the end of the world, but it’s pretty indignant for ATT to make such a big deal out of offering a service that BLOWS so miserably.  It’s really embarassing for them.  At this rate, Verizon may change their minds about turing down Apple.
