The ITC ruling in the patent infringement case Apple brought against HTC for allegedly using its patents has been delayed again. There is no indication from the ITC why the ruling has been delayed for a second time.

Linksys has a new router called the E4200 v2 that has launched that has a cool new feature. That new feature allows the router to be set up and managed form an iPhone or other devices using a Linksys app.

but does she have to use the upgrade to buy the iPhone.  she is an existing customer, has had the upgrade for a couple of years i believe, just been waiting for the right phone and has now made her decision.  Her contract has been up also, so if she just signs a new contract will that save the upgrade???  I am on pre-paid and do not know enough about post paid issues to help her that much

I finally switched to AT&T from Verizon specifcially for the Iphone. I ordered over the phone on Thursday and finally got my terms and conditions email today 3 days later but now when I go to check my order status it says that the two refurb 16gb 3gs that I ordered under a family plan are on backorder. I ordered one in black and one in white. Does anyone know how long they will take to ship? I’m concerned since I ordered an Iphone for my husband who is currently on trial with Sprint. Next week his trial is over and I don’t want to pay an early termination fee but I don’t want him to be stuck without a cell phone. I must say that I was really hesitant to make the switch to AT&T because of the spotty service I heard about and now I’m questioning my decision even more. I explained the Sprint situation to two customer service reps when I was calling inquiring about the Terms & Conditions email and they all made it seem like the phone would ship as soon as I got the email and agreed to the terms and conditions. First, I never would have thought it would have taken 3 days to receive an email especially not in this day and age and second someone should have mentioned the phones were on backorder. Anyone with any experience with refurb phone?

I am a big fan of iphone but it breaks my heart to make this decision. The signal reception problem really drives me nuts and I can’t tell you how many times my phone calls have dropped because of it. I don’t use any case for my iphone because I like to feeling of touching my iphone, not the case (you know what I’m saying)   I do know that noone is perfect but Artifacts shell be perfect at certain stage with the potential of improvement.   I think I should return my iphone 4 to att and use my old iphone. And since apple has changed its return policy for iphone4 ( http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/07/02applelet   ter.html)   I have a question for everyone,   If I bought my iphone from att, can I get my full refund back and have my contract back to what it was? Full refund is the total of the iphone price and the renew contract fee, which was ~$220.

Disclaimer1: The intent is not to bash AT&T or especially their customer service representatives; it is intended to point out a flawed policy decision that has hampered my preparations for returning to the states after being stationed overseas and to help others work around the flawed policy.   Disclaimer2: Sorry for the wall of text … read the “Problem” and “Solution” lines if you are just scanning.   First, I am stationed overseas with my family and have received orders back to the states.  My wife is absolutely gaga over the iPhone4, so we decided to order a pair of phones to be shipped out to us in time for the move (that way we have phones as soon as we arrive).  I called the new service line and had a long discussion with the service rep on how to accomplish this … we identified two problems and solutions.     – Problem 1: AT&T / Apple will not ship iPhones to a PO Box or APO/FPO.     Hey, I completely understand.  AT&T doesn’t want to be liable for “loss” while in shipping to those locations … makes sense to me!   – Solution 1: Ship the phones to a trusted family member and have them forward them to the me.  This means I assume the risk of loss and cost of replacement.     – Problem 2: The credit card that I pay for the service with must match the shipping address for the phones and the service.     – Solution 2: Call your bank and have them change the credit card billing address over to your trusted family member.   I made the arrangements and called AT&T back, discussed the situation and solutions with the service rep, and placed the order.  After waiting 72 hours for a confirmation e-mail that never arrived, I called AT&T back and determined that my order had been cancelled because;      – Problem 3: Not only do the credit card address and shipping address have to be the same; but that address also has to be your address on a credit check!  If that doesn’t match up … WHAMMY … order cancelled without notification.  And BONUS!   They CANNOT place another order with AT&T over the phone.  You have to physically appear at a store in order to place another order.   So being the forceful kind of person I am, I asked how I can appeal the decision to cancel my order because they don’t think I’m legit.  Answer : I can’t.  I spent an hour on the phone with the very helpful service rep.  He searched for and found a phone number for the group that does the reviews of iPhone orders … they couldn’t even review the decision.  He even found the phone number for a local AT&T store to see if I could place the order over the phone for my trusted family member to pick up for me.  Neither attempt was successful.  There is NO APPEAL to the review process that denied my order.       – Possible solutions for 3:         – Pick an address that you’ve lived at and have someone trusted there … maybe that will allow the credit check to pass.           – Your trusted family member would have to get the service in his/her name, buy the phones with his/her money, send them in the mail … and 45 days later, I could transfer the service into my name.           – Wait until physically present in the states and find an AT&T store nearby that may or may not have the iPhone4 available.   Bottom line: AT&T has an understandable desire to minimize losses due to fraud and/or theft.  But no process is perfect.  The one they’ve chosen to follow has no ability for competent people to review an automated decision or for a potential customer to provide additional proof of legitimacy.  Although I’m sure this doesn’t represent a significant segment of their customer base, it is significantly detrimental to my ability, as a military member returning from overseas service, to ease my family’s transition back state-side.  If you’re in a similar situation, I hope you find a way around the last problem!

From PCMag.com – The materials that go into making the 16-Gbyte version of the iPhone 4 cost $187.51, according to a Monday estimate from iSuppli.   Despite the more than 100 features upgrades that went into the latest iPhone, the price for the device is not much more than its predecessors. The bill of materials for the original iPhone in 2007, for example, was $217.73, followed by $166.31 for the iPhone 3G, and $170.80 for the iPhone 3GS, iSuppli said. “[This] closely aligns with those of previous iPhones,” Kevin Keller, principal analyst for teardown services at iSuppli, said in a statement. “With the iPhone maintaining its existing pricing, Apple will be able to maintain the prodigious margins that have allowed it to build up a colossal cash reserve—one whose size is exceeded only by Microsoft.” The most expensive part of the iPhone 4 is the LCD display at $28.50, or 15.2 percent of the phone’s total cost. The 3.5-inch display features 960-by-630 resolution, four times that of the iPhone 3GS. The display is not labeled, but iSuppli guessed that it was manufactured by LG Display or Toshiba Mobile Display. The next most expensive component is the NAND-type Flash memory. In the 16GB version, the NAND costs $27, or 14.4 percent of the cost. The iPhone 4 torn apart by iSuppli was produced by Samsung. Samsung is also behind some of the other costly iPhone 4 components, including the 4Gbits of mobile Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM, which cost $13.80. The baseband integrated circuit, meanwhile, cost $11.72 while the A4 processor came in at $10.75, or 5.7 percent of the cost. One of the biggest design changes for the iPhone 4 was the decision to ditch the unibody option for a multiple pieces that allowed for a larger battery and integrated antenna. The battery, from an unknown supplier, cost $5.80. “The metal housing of the outer enclosure serves as a physical antenna, a tough task to design and manufacture because antennae pieces have to be insulated from other parts, and yet be rigid around the perimeter,” Keller said. “This adds more complexity and cost, but elegantly uses every possible cubic millimeter of the iPhone for function, and not just form. The tight intertwining of form and function is an area where Apple has always excelled.” The iPhone 4 also incorporates a gyroscope, which cost $2.60 per device. The 5-megapixel camera, meanwhile, cost $9.75, while the GPS from Broadcom cost $1.75.

AT&T will not have the white iPhone until later this summer and I also called Best Buy and they are saying the same thing. This has cemented my decision, I’m pre-ordering through Apple and picking it up at Apple first thing Thursday morning, the heck with all this other chaos from these retailers.   http://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/14/atandt-says-iphone-4-to-be-initially-available-only-in-black/

Hello all,   Ok…I know this topic has been beat to death…but why can’t ATT unlock our Iphones?  I just spent on hour on the phone with both att and apple and I am inclined to believe that ultimately the decision lies with ATT.  About 2 years ago ATT unlocked my Blackberry curve so why can’t they unlock my Iphone?  An Apple rep told me that the contract between ATT and Apple stipulates that ATT decides who phone gets unlocked.     Of course I can have the phone unlocked by other means but why do we need to do this?   Hoping for some reasonable answers….   Regards,   Radman

iPhone Decision What a revoltin’ development this is. As my colleague Jason Meserve has written, TechCrunch is reporting that Apple has rejected Google’s Google Voice app for the iPhone , as well as a couple of unofficial Google Voice …

A current phone number and address for Strickland could not be found. Repeated phone calls to Quarterman’s house rang unanswered, and there was no sign of anyone at her home when an AP reporter recently visited.
