Is this true?
I was told that AT&T has changed the service agreement terms for iphone users. ie., if anyone terminates their 2-year contract early, they have to pay an early termination fee of $175 PLUS the remaining the cost of the device. So if the cost of the iphone is $499 but the user got it for $49.99 w/ a 2-year agreement and he cancels before 2 years then his cancelation fee would be $175+$450 ($499 - $49.99). Is this true? How can I verify it? Can someone please help?

Is it possible to activate an iPhone 3GS using a prepaid $10 AT&T SIM card?
I bought a used iPhone 3GS that didn't come with a SIM card. The device is currently unusable : It only has an option to make an emergency phone call. When I connect the iPhone to iTunes it tells me that the iPhone is missing the SIM card. As a result, I am unable to access the device. I thought that the lack of a SIM card wouldn't be a problem since I don't intend to use the iPhone as a phone , only as an mp3 player. Unfortunately, it appears that a valid SIM card is required even if I don't plan to use the iPhone's wireless features. Since I have no interest in using this device as a phone, I don't plan to sign up for a 2 year contract. I just want to get the device to work as an mp3 player... but even for something as simple as that I need a valid SIM card. Can someone tell me if it is possible activate the iPhone (get the device's nonwireless features to work) with a $10 or cheaper AT&T SIM card? Again, I am not interested in using the device as a phone, just as an mp3 player.

No data network?
I have received my iPhone through the mail today and I called (866) 499-8008 to activate my device. After it was activated, I tried to go online without using the Wi-Fi... It says I have no data subscription, but I'm sure I had it because it was automatically added to my plan when I first ordered the phone through the website. Someone help please?

iPhone 3g loosing bluetooth connections difficult to reconnect
I have a 3g that I have had since Nov 08. Works perfect until about a month ago. I have had it most recently paired with my Jawbone Prime and when I first got it worked flawlessly. Once it was paired - when I would power it up the iPhone would connect and I could see the BT-indicator on the phone go from grey to blue. About a month or so I noticed that when I would take the Jawbone off the charger and power it up - it wouldn't connect. I opend the BT settings on the phone and it would show as paired but not connected. Touching the Jawbone BT under the list of devices causes it to search and after a few trys it will finally connect. I can usually get it to finally connect but each time I have to power the headset up then go into Settings ---> BT and then tap the device name to "force" it to find it. I thought maybe it was the headset - so I tried it with my Motorola H870 and once it paired and I powered it down and back up - Same thing! I would have to go to the BT Settings on the phone and tap the device (headset) name a few times to force it. So now I am thinking something is wrong with the phone? Maybe related to the update? I am running version 3.1.2 (7D11) Any suggestions? -Rob

iPhone not getting good reception? Try this to help boost reception! Just use scotch tape!
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10115365-233.html?tag=mncol;title Low and/or fluctuating signal strength collectively represent one of the most frustrating issues affecting iPhone owners. It can cause poor reception, dropped calls and other afflictions. The problem can be exacerbated by firmware updates, as recent reports have shown. We've covered a number of procedures for boosting signal strength , including resetting the iPhone, dangling a USB cable off the device and buying a signal booster. We've also noted the following: if your iPhone's SIM card is not seated properly, signal strength can suffer. As such, re-seating the SIM by pushing a straightened paper clip into the small hole on the top of the device to open the SIM tray, making sure the SIM Card is properly in place, then re-inserting the SIM tray can prove effective or boosting signal strength. You should also check for debris inside the tray or SIM card slot, removing it by blowing into the slot or using compressed air. Rooted in the notion that improper SIM contact can result in a weak signal, we've now received reports that attaching a small piece of scotch tape to the outer side of the iPhone's SIM card (the side that does not have metal contacts) can result in a surprising boost. iPhone Atlas reader Jeggrey Swiger recently wrote: "I found that a small piece of scotch tape under the SIM Card had put enough pressure on the Contact to give a great increase in signal strength." We certainly can't recommend this procedure, as it might void your iPhone's warranty. But if you've already cleaned debris and made sure your SIM card is properly seated, a piece of scotch tape may very well provide the added pressure needed for proper contact and a strong signal.

New AT&T Mark the Spot Application
AT&T Mark the Spot for iPhone is an application that provides customers with a means to provide feedback on their network user experience to AT&T. AT&T utilizes this feedback mechanism to better target network optimization and enhancements; incidents are clustered together to highlight areas for investigation. AT&T Mark the Spot is available for download free of charge via the App Store from the device or iTunes.

Bluetooth Headset and Voice Dial
Has anyone found a bluetooth headset that you can use with Voice Dialing? I was just trying a Plantronics bluetooth earpiece and did not get it to work. The control button was also the on/off button, so I think I may have just been turning the device off. I was just curious if Voice Dialing is supposed to work with the bluetooth earpiece/headsets - or ir it only works with certain sets. Thanks.

The ultimate* software installer debug guide
There are many things that can go wrong with a SIS installation package and unfortunately the software installer component provides no logging mechanism for developers to be able to precisely pinpoint the point of failure. Even the errors returned by the installer engine are filtered out so that the UI layer gets the minimal set of rather generic error messages to display for the user. But while “Unable to install” tells all the user needs to know about the fact that the application will not show up in his/her Applications menu, that message offers no hint as to what exactly the application developer should be fixing in order to have a successful install. Over time developers have created a comprehensive list of error messages and possible resolutions for the problem. In this blog post I will provide an up-to-date and hopefully complete list of errors as well as a nice little hack that will allow a bit more detailed resolution of the root cause of the error. The hack, available
