Last week my iPhone shut down because apparently that’s what it does when the sofware needs to be updated. So, I plugged it into iTunes, and it told me I needed a software update. But when I updated the software it wiped out everything on my phone, including all my contacts. How do I use iTunes to hopefully get them back?

 

BTW, the iPhone shutting off to update software is a ridiculous feature. Suppose I’d been on the side of the road in a snowstorm and needed to call for help, but “Oops…gee, my software’s not up to date.” This actually isn’t the first time I’ve had this happen, and considering how expensive it is to even have a cell phone, I can’t believe I pay for this kind of agony.

 

At this point, however, I’d just settle for getting my contacts back.
