Apple COO Gives No Indication That Verizon Will Offer the iPhone
Bad news for the AT&T haters and the Verizon fanboys. Apple COO Tim Cook spoke at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference. In his remarks, he clearly downplayed the need for Apple to add Verizon . Cook also touched on a subject that's been a sore spot for iPhone users--Apple's relationship with its exclusive U.S. service provider AT&T. iPhone customers dissatisfied with AT&T's service have been hoping that Apple would take on another partner in the U.S., but Cook's comments on the subject Tuesday are unlikely to add much fuel to that speculation (hardly a surprise since Cook called AT&T a "great partner" during last month's earnings announcement.) On Tuesday, Cook noted the advantage of having a single-carrier relationship. Besides simplicity, dealing with one carrier allows Apple to "innovate and work with that carrier on a feature that would be difficult for multiple carriers to provide." Take Visual Voicemail, for example--a feature that Apple and AT&T collaborated on for the iPhone's initial release. While having multiple carriers gives Apple the chance to sell more iPhones, that's largely the case in countries where carriers have what Cook described as "sticky" relationships with their customers, so that it makes sense to ink deals with more than one carrier. In the top 10 markets for the iPhone, Apple has relationships with single carriers in five of them. Of those, three markets feature exclusivity agreements while the other two allow Apple to add other carriers. "We look at each on a country-by-country basis," he added. swapping sims
I have an iPhone which I'm not allowed to bring into work. I'm allowed to bring any other phone to work. If I swap the sim from my iPhone to, for example, the HTC Tilt phone, will I be able to use the internet on the HTC since I have an unlimited data plan (iPhone)?

Pulling my hair out over Exchange account!
Ok, I am an iPhone newbie but I know this shouldnt be this hard! I've been at this for endless hours now and still get a "cannot get mail...connection failed" when I create an Exchange account. I did get this to work once and was getting mail, calendar, folders. I had 'Contacts' set off so i went back in and turned it on (since most of my contacts are in Outlook). Once I did that the contacts worked, but then everything else failed....it just went downhill from there. I even sat down with a coworker that had his email setup on an iPhone and walked through the whole process with the same settings and I still can't connect. I think I reached the end of the Internet with my searches on fixes. Here are the email: jdoe@companyname.com domain : [blank! coworkers was blank and when it worked this was left blank. i also tried to value it as well ] User: jdoe Password: mypassword Description: jdoe@companyname.com Server: exchange.companyname.com note: webmail is https:\exchange.companyname.comexchange Message: "Unable to Verify Certificate - The certificate from for account could not be verified". Click 'Accept' Click 'Next' Message: "The account may not be able to send or recieve emails. Are you sure you ant to save?" Click Save Mail = ON Contacts = ON Calendars = ON Click Done I verified that SSL was ON Click on the mailbox and get "cannot get mail. the connection to the server failed". Any help is appreciated!!

iPhone freezes in safari
Hello everyone. I have an iPhone 3GS and it is starting to behave a little strange. This generally happens if I am on the Facebook main page in Safari. I don't like using the facebook app because I find it to be limiting and I prefer viewing on the standard internet site. Lately, if I am searching in the facebook search field, as I type a name, the phone will freeze and the letters stop appearing. If I try to backspace and see what is wrong, instead of erasing the letters that are already there, partial characters of symbols and nonsense characters appear. The only way to fix this is to reload the page, but sometimes it will have to reload multiple times. Also, I am finding that on some pages, if I click on a link, rather than the new page loading up, a blank "Untitled" page will display. And lastly, this one is rare but sometimes in Safari, a light gray page replaces the webpage and I can close safari and still use the phone but in order to get on the internet at all, I have to shut down and reboot the entire phone. Any help would be great!

Why do I only have EDGE now instead of 3G?
I just joined the forums and I am so happy to be here. Last night I could not get on the internet at all; I kept getting"Cannot connect to cellular data network" and when I checked my phone a few minutes ago to get my confirmation and passwork for registering with ATT I saw that I only have "E" instead of my usual 3G. My 3G is turned on. This is the first time this has happened since getting my iPhone 3GS in November and the first problem I have had. Is this happening to anyone else? I live in the Northeast, in a suburb of Philadelphia with good ATT coverage; I made sure of that before purchasing my iPhone. I was wondering if my problem could be related to everyone using Twitter and other internet sites to communicate to/from Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake and it's overloading or crashing servers? Any help you can give me will be much appreciated. This is my first Smartphone and I am kind of computer-stupid.

Heres what happened, someone put a 16GB iPhone 3G on google. they had broken the screen on it and it wouldnt work, i bought it for cheep, bought a new LCD setup and fixed it, well, id like to use it with AT&T, and so far the only thing ive done is ordered a Sim card for it. What now? i plug it into my iTunes and nothing happens, it allows me to put music and stuff on it, but other then that thats it, says no service. I've googled the junk out of this but i seam to be the only person with said problem. Any help? I'm at my wits end with T-Mobile. Thanks.
