Go here and download the best darn FREE file converter that can pretty much convert to anything you can think of. Install it. Start it. ONE – Click on “All To Mobile Device”. TWO – This screen will pop up. In the drop down, find Apple iPhone & iPod, and choose the screen res that matches your orientation desire. 480×320 is for landscape viewing, 320×480 is for portrait viewing. THREE – This screen will appear. Find your file and drag and drop it into the box. Or you can browse for it. But dragging and dropping is much easier. FOUR – Choose your output folder if necessary at the bottom, then click “Okay” in the upper right hand corner. FIVE – Back to this screen. Choose your output if you didn’t in step four. Then click the “Start” button. SIX – Watch your video convert. Time will vary depending on your computer’s processor, what else you’re doing, how long the video is, the settings you chose to convert it with, etc. (a ripped AVI movie file that is approximately 800MB and about 1 and 1/2 hours long will convert for me in about 10-15 minutes, running on an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.39 GHz with 2 Gigs of RAM, running Windows Vista 32 Bit . Make your estimations from that). SEVEN – Put the video onto your player by putting it in whatever folder you want, and then go to iTunes and either from the videos or music section, choose to open a new file and browse to whereever you just saved that file. Or just drag it and drop it onto either the music or video portion of iTunes. Then from the iPhone/iTouch section, go to the video tab and checkmark that video. EIGHT – ENJOY! Disclaimer – Yes, I realize that I’m re-encoding an MP4. This is because a file I had already converted was the only file I had on hand. I figured that I’d squash this bug before someone asked why I was converting an MP4 into an MP4. ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN NO PICTURE EIGHT
