Hi all,
I just got my very first iPhone on the release date and am really confused by the following discrepancy:
When I log into my AT&T account, it reports 50.78MB out of 200MB data usage.
On my iPhone under Settings/Usage it shows cellular data: 8.9MB sent and 66.9MB received for a total of 75.8MB.
If it was past the end of my first (or any) billing cycle I could attribute the discrepancy to forgetting to reset the phone statistics, but that isn’t the case since I haven’t even had the phone for a month.
I called AT&T and they cannot explain the difference. My billing cycle runs from the 15th of the month until the 14th of the following month. I bumped my plan to 2GB starting Thursday (7/15) because I was concerned about going over 200MB, but now I’m not so sure. With my IBM discount, the difference will only be around $5/month for an additional 1.8GB, so it kind of makes sense. But if I’m really never going to go over unless I’m on vacation and away from wi-fi for a week or so it seems pointless to even pay the extra $5. I could just bump it up before I travel since AT&T is pretty flexible about such things.
But the numbers don’t add up and it’s driving me nuts.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
 Bonnie
