Got 3gs May 27th. Now Want Iphone 4. Special Situation

I just bought 4 lines for a family plan on May 27th. Paid $200 for each iphone but now I want to swap them out for the iphone 4.

 

I assume that I can do this since it is within the 30 day exchange window? 

 

My only question is how I go about doing this since the nearest AT&T and Apple store is over 100 miles away for me. I have read that for exchanges like mine you have to go to an AT&T store but I can’t do that because its a very long drive.

 

In my case do you think they would send me the Iphone 4 by mail?

 

The first AT&T rep told me I couldn’t do anything and was stuck with the 3gs. The 2nd rep told me that I would have to request a return label. Then order the Iphone 4 and once it was amiled to me I would then turn around and send the 3gs back. This process would make the most sense and work perfectly but it contradicts the fact that exchanges must be done in stores…

 

Any ideas?

I want to use iphone 3gs as an ipod touch..att help

Hi I m new in america and as everyone likes iphone i bought an iphone 3gs over ebay and i was using it as ipod touch.i cant use it as iphone 1. I dont have a credit history so noone gives me a contract. 2. i cant afford 70$ right now.   because of the firmware upgrade. my cell phone is not activated anymore..i dont have the original sim from the original buyer or whatever i didnt even knew i needed to have a sim to use it as an ipod. The other person from whom i bought say he dont have a sim either he lost it ..   My only question which is very simple.( and i read all the forums abt it. and got contradicting info)    How can i use my iphone 3gs 32gb new firmware to activate and use it as an ipod touch. I dont have an att sim, i dont think i can get one coz i dont havee credit history.   Can i use att sim from someone else to just activate it? atleast i can use it as an ipod. and i was using it tht way till i upgraded. please someone with real knowledge or probably att employee help me out.. i also heard i can just go to att and they ll activate it for free even if i dont wanna buy att plan? is this true? please guide me. just wanna use it as an ipod :(
