My iPhone 4 was stolen out of my gym locker on October 4th. On a hunch, I decided to text my TextNow number on November 22nd, and I got a reply. I figured it was probably some teenage punk, so I said I was an attractive girl looking for a boyfriend.
The guy gave me his full name, school, and FaceBook instantly. I went on his FaceBook, and I found a picture of him holding my iPhone 4! I am in the process of filing a police report, but I was wondering if the police will have enough evidence to go to the guy’s house and get my phone back. The thing is, I don’t think the guy that has my iPhone 4 is the one who stole it. Most likely it bought it from whoever stole it.
I’m not really sure how upgrading works in this scenario, and I didn’t want to call Customer Care since they seem to charge me every time I do (shows up on the bill at least for a couple of bucks). So I thought I would ask you guys. Â My contract is up this month and I plan to upgrade but not until the iPhone 5 (or 4xx) comes out. Obviously, that won’t be for a while so how does this process work? Do I renew the contract now and then upgrade in July while still getting the discount that I would with a 2 year contract? Will I have to renew my contract then when I do? Â Mainly, I want to be sure to get the discounted price when I upgrade (assuming there still will be a discount). Â Another note is that I am on a family plan and will likely be the only one who upgrades this July instead of now. Â Thanks for you help.
hey guys i had ordered my iphone 4 like last tuesday and it got shipped by thursday but att has cancled my order shippment and they said i have to verify a few things before i start my process.  i was wondering why did they do that? i gave them right info about myself and paid the intial deposit fee for the both phones.  i ordered 2 iphone 4′s one 32gb and one 16gb  is my account still ok or do they have to process even more? they took my money for the iphone and the deposit through my bank account…  and i got an email saying congrats for choosing our service and a brief overview of my account.  whats going on with my account? they said i need to fax them my state ID, utility bill, and the att cell number provided when i ordered it through phone.  can anyone advise me through this thanks in advance guys

i just bought my iphone4 from about 2 weeks from USA to work with it in Egypt it was with 640$ the 16GB as it is without a contract from AT&T.
I am a consumerist. I write for influential blogs about consumer devices. I resisted for so long, and the day finally came (Wednesday) that I decided to go get an Apple iPhone 4. Here is my story, and my dissatisfaction with the process.  I arrived in the Apple store, and immediately found a apple guy to help me. We explained that we had 2 lines on a family plan, and one line already with an iphone on it, had an upgrade that we wanted to use for the other line.  So the guy went to work trying to switch the upgrades, and get me on an iPhone 4, while leaving the other line on an iPhone 1st Gen.  The guy from Apple did not try to explain the process, we just waiting while he completed the job. The only thing he did ask was the account holders details, and which data plan we wanted. I had done alot of research and knew all about the data plans. However, to my suprize, he offered us the $30 data plan which is unlimited. We read the T&C and signed, commiting us to that price, and that plan. Great.  Not so Great, the activation process of that first iPhone took over an hour. Not so great Apple and ATT.  So the guy sais – Congrats on the iPhone, and sent us on our way. The account holder said hold up, and said I want to check my iPhone outside, and ensure it works fine. Of course it didn’t. It had actually been deactivated.  We went back in, and SIM card got replaced, and still not service. It took the 2 Apple employee’s the next 3 hours to try to fix the orginal iphone. I live in downtown San Francisco, my car was in a garage, and now my garage bill was shooting high.  I just couldn’t believe that the simple process of activating 1 line would create such horrific problems. The account holder and I had jobs we had to get back to.  Finally, 4 hours in – both phones were working. We were annoyed, but I had my nice shiny iPhone, and a bewildered, but jealous friend who of course now wanted the iPhone 4 rather than his less than perfect iPhone 1st Gen.  We part ways, and I start adding to my phone. I check my voicemail – and no visual voicemail. I call the account holder, and guess what? No visual voicemail. At this point I just want to scream. We decide to call ATT the next days to get the visual voicemail resolved.  Late in the evening, my DATA access dies. I have no access to the cellular data network. I can’t do anything with my apps, I can’t connect via 3G, I can’t do anything, but make phone calls. At this point im ready to start tearing the iPhone to bits.  At this point, I boiling, and just thinking of the iPhone review I am going to blog about. Crappy service, Crappy phone, Crappy everything.  I wake up the next morning, and I have a text message from ATT. With no explaination, I get told that I never had a data plan, and I had been added to an iPhone Data Plan. So in affect, I got given a data plan, and then had it taken away. I am not a lawyer, but I am sure that this is not good business, and you cannot offfer one price, sign your name to it, and then just be given a different plan, and forced onto it. I suspect that I am going to have to speak to someone with some knowledge on this area.  We speak to ATT, they tell us that there is no system override to get back onto the $30 data plan, and they cannot do anything about it. I don’t believe it. Someone has to power to override, someone can do it. They also tell us to reboot our phones, and visual voicemail should be turned on. We follow the instructions, and nothing. We get told we are going to have to meet each us again, and head to an ATT store.  We head to an ATT store, we encounter the rudeness employee – infact a manager pacing around his store with a clipboard. He doesn’t explain there is an hour wait, he just shouts it, and says sign your name. We try to explain the countless hours we have spent thus far, and he simply turns his back without trying to listen. The account holder and I are just majorly frustrated at this point.  Finally, after calls to Customer Services, we finally see a representative at the Geary ATT Store. We are there for the next 2 hours trying to resolve the visual voicemail problems. In that time, SIM cards are switched countless times, the iPhones reset countless times, and nothing seems to be working. One of the reps, ends up just trying to Google his way out of the problem. Great, they really do not know what they are doing. They are having to go online, and look at consumer reports on how to fix the iPhone. The reps were nice, not like the manager, but they just didn’t know what they were doing. They also explained that they were not permitted access to another system in order to make advanced changes.  ATT – Why wouldn’t someone in a store have access to a system in order to fix problems.  Anyhow, its goes on and on. Finally, 8 hours into the problem, with the two of us frustrated, having gone through the same steps again and again, we have 2 working iPhones. Which of course have been reset to an in of their lives. My iPhone are working. However, we both have been missing from work from other 10 hours from the previous 2 days of iPhone nightmare.  Apple & ATT – Why does it take this long? Why do you not give your employee’s adequate tools in order to troubleshoot and fix problems? Why do you give out plans, that you then take away? I am sure you are breaking the law? Why do you not refund the purchase price when you f##k up sp much? When are you going to offer me, and my account holder something to say sorry? Are you going to reimburse me for the work I missed? Are you going to reimburse me for the garage costs? Are you going to fire your rude manager at the Geary store? How about offering the account holder an iPhone 4 and apologiizng for the complete mess.  I really hope that you guys use this experience as a case study to improve your process. Obviously it doesn’t work correctly, and if I am experiencing this problem, then others are too. Fix it, you obviously have a great product, but lousy support, and troubleshooting.  Can someone from ATT or Apple please contact me, and give me the details of what your next steps are, and how you would like to improve this situation for the account holder and I. I really want to see you say sorry, and make it up to us.Â
Hello, Â Â Ordered mine July 27, and saw it come off backorder around 8/3. Â Since then, it’s been listed in process. Normally, I’d think nothing of it, but I scanned posts relating to this topic, almost everyone had their tracking # within a day (or two max). Â I just called AT&T, they had no real answers as to what the process is. Now I’m wondering if there are others experiencing this as well… In Progress, indefinitely? Â p.s. It’s shipping to home, and I’m in NJ (and since I have no affiliation with Jersey Shore cast, that should speed up the process……..right?) Â Â
Ok so im a new ATT customer ordered my I4 7/29. of course the order says back order. Reading through all the posts i see different results for online, instore, over the phone orders. As i am a new customer. How would i go about canceling my order and walking into att or a best buy or apple and getting it there. would i have to do the process all over? as far as credit check and info? i dont want to wait 2-3 weeks if my local best buy has them in stock
Hey guys just trying to see if theres any south floridians here and what theyre wait was like, when u ordered? are u on backorder???….ive noticed the process seems to be very different depending on what state or region ur in….im a miami store order for home delivery on 7/17….still on BO ovbiously.
A heads-up to those thinking of returning their IP4′s.  I just went through the process of returning my IP4 and learned (the hard way) how AT&T calculates 30 days.   I pre-ordered the phone on 6/15. I received an email on 6/21 saying the phone was shipped. My AMEX was also charged on 6/21 (Mon). The FedEx tracking website first three entries were on Tuesday, 6/22. (the activities are “Shipment information sent to FedEX” ,”Left FedEx Origin Facility” and “Picked up”).  The ATT Return policy says:  “You may exchange equipment one time within 30 days from the date the original equipment was purchased or shipped”  That “or” makes the statement ambiguous. I calculated the 30 days based on the ship date (= Thursday 7/22). However, when I brought the phone to an AT&T store to return, their records were calculating the 30 days based on 6/21 (and hence 7/22 was the 31st day).   They suggested I call Customer Service and have them process the return. I did so, and they allowed me to return the phone (by mail) under “buyer’s remorse” (the term they used).  In hindsight, I should have clarified with AT&T the last date that I could return the phone, rather than trying to interpret their policy.      Â
I ordered 4 iphones for a new family plan on 7/10 through the AT&T Premier site. It said “Attention!” for a few days before it moved to “processing.” On the regular AT&T site, it says my order date is 7/14. I read on some forums that AT&T tries to “keep your spot in line” from your Premier order date but I’m not so sure about that. Â For those of you who ordered on Premier or are familiar with the process, which is the “real order date” – the Premier order date or the date it transferred to the regular AT&T website? Â Thanks.
