Kurt asked:

I am thinking of purchasing and LG enV Touch as a cell phone, and I was curious if I needed to buy music from VCast in order to put it on the phone. I have CD’s of my favorite groups, and I’d like to avoid spending another $2 for every song I want if I’ve already paid for the music once. Any insight to this would be appreciated! I’ve read up on this phone a lot, and it keeps talking about VCast Music with Rhapsody, but, as I said, I’d like to avoid having to pay for music twice if I can, and it never says if you can just put music there from your computer.

Is there a way to know whether the iphone 4 is in Stock at a local Store? Or would I have to call them? Because I plan on purchasing an iphone 4 but I would have to purchase it on August 5th, since that’s when I get back to U.S.A from my summer vacation.   Also, how likely is it that the iphone 4 will be in Stock during August. So even if they don’t have it in stock, I guess ordering it online would be the only choice, but should I worry about receiving an empty box? As I have heard horror stories about it.

As a long-time ATT family plan customer w/”business” status via my former employer, I was happy to learn two weeks ago that Radio Shack was an authorized iPhone 4 retailer and would streamline my “upgrade” to order the iPhone 4.   Local RS guys called me June 11 and 14 to confirm that I was on track and, early AM of June 15, told me I need not even come in to formalize my pre-order that day, that night before Apple/ATT had announced a newer, simplified pre-order process, so we were good to go.   Quickly we all learned June 15 that Apple and ATT were swamped (600,000 callers) trying to pre-order the iPhone 4.  I’m feeling pretty smug, patting self on back for going ahead w/RS guys and didn’t have to sweat the ordering hassle.  Fool that I was…   Called same RS guys yesterday to ask what’s the process for tomorrow, to come in get the new phone etc. But whoooaaaa!   These guys are apologetic as heck, embarassed that RS apparently got screwed by the big boys at Apple/ATT.  In their multi-store region in my neighborhood, they’d taken order/pre-orders June 15 for 54 phones (dunno how many were, like me, existing ATT wireless customers), but Apple/ATT ended up only validating or confirming less than a third of those orders.   I’m feeling as bad for these local RS guys as I am POed that something — nobody seems to know what — happened, except that Apple/ATT apparently reneged on their deal to let RS take retail pre-orders for the iPhone.   Later yesterday I hear on Rush Limbaugh that some iPhone customers received their new phones yesterday, apparently to undercut some new competing phone/service (Droid? Verizon?) launching today.   Then I read today that Apple is out for the big business market, routing maybe half of all the new iPhones to big corporate customers, apparently trying to squeeze out Blackberry from their big corporate accounts.  Which apparently explains what happened to the new phone I was supposed to get tomorrow.   At this point RS can’t tell me when my phone will arrive and I’m sitting here POed that some corporate type has it right now because his/her purchasing bozos cut some kind of last-minute deal with Apple/ATT.   At this point I’m POed enough to tell Apple and ATT to take a hike, and to take my business elsewhere — not that they’ll care much because I’m one of the “little people.”   Is anyone else in the same boat? Had your order/pre-order placed last week through Radio Shack (or even BB or WM?) and then learn this week that — whoops, sumpin’ happened — and they don’t know when you’ll get your phone?   I’m truly feeling bad for RS — at last the big boys let them into the game — as only the third independent retailer allowed to sell iPhones.   Then, when they go ahead and by all accounts do a pretty decent job, the A-team cuts their —s off and says, in effect, “tough — screw you and screw your customers, cuz we don’t really need you.”

So I am considering purchasing an iPhone.  My family currently has a family plan with AT&T.  I have a blackberry and we some other type of phone something like a blackberry (Palm or something) and just a normal cell phone.  If I was to buy a iPhone would I need to start paying for another data plan specific to the iPhone or will my family plan work?  Does it take a seperate catergory of minutes, texts, data, etc for the iPhone or will it act like just another phone when added to our family plan?  I had heard you have to get a totally seperate plan.   Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
