I am in the middle of an iPhone contract and I am tired of the phone. I want to buy a blackberry and place my SIM in that.   I heard a rumor that when you’re in a contract with an iPhone, you have to continue paying the $30 per month data charge for the iPhone even if you aren’t using an iPhone anymore.   I know I will have to pay for internet on the Blackberry, but will I have to pay double since the iPhone charges continue?   HELP

For days when I want to have a phone on me but don’t want to have my iPhone so I don’t have to worry about anything happening to it I know I can just swap the SIM out and put it in another old AT&T phone I have laying around (with a microSIM to SIM adapter of course). My question is, what risk is there in losing my unlimited iPhone data plan for the day or so my SIM is in a different phone?

hi..i a locked iphone 4 unactivated till now from a friend. friend took out his sim after opening the sealed box right so iphone is unactivated yet…now how can i use it with at&t connection as i dont want to unlock/jailbreak it and want to apple updates/itunes etc. Also i do not want any contract with att but the monthly plan with 450 min and $15 data plan. pls help.

Is this possible? If I bring my UK iPhone can I just pop an AT&T SIM into it and use it for making calls to family in the USA? Also can I get a data plan? Only need the plan for 30 days.   Is any of this possible?   Thanks :-)

I am going canoing with some friends next week and am thinking of putting my SIM in an old Moto Rzr for the trip. While I have a waterproof bag, I wanted to be doubly cautious. Will this cause any automatic plan changes. I am grandfAthered on International unlimited data and can’t afford to loose it. If it is a problem, I will take my EKit roaming SIM instead. Opinions?

I wanted to know if anyone knows whether there was a difference between data plans for smartphones/IPhones and just regular messaging phones?   I’m currently paying an extra $10/month for FAMILY unlimited data, but was told that I would need to change to one of the new data plans ($15/2ooMB or $25/2GB) in order to use an IPHONE.  Is there a reason behind this?  Does the Iphone use a specific type of internet access or network?   I would like to keep my current $10/month data plan, buy a no-contract phone from apple, and insert my sim into it so that I don’t need to purchase a new plan.  I mean, if there is no actual difference between the 2 data plans, shouldn’t I still be able to use the phone?

I have an iphone 4, will never buy another one, perhaps an apple product, as well. I live an hour away from an apple store. Got my phone from AT&T (preordered). There were no cases in their store at launch day, so I had to get mine at best buy. So, my options in the case program is get another case (in 3-4 weeks) or return my iphone. The only reason I don’t return it is all the money I sunk in accessories. Factor in the no sim errors I get 15 times a day (already tried all fixes outside of placing tape on my sim tray), and you can see why my next phone won’t be an iphone. Apple should be ashamed, and if there is a class-action lawsuit, I will sign up. I feel violated for trusting Apple’s reputation.
