Moved to UK and AT&T officially cancelled my contract – will they unlock my phone?
Before anyone goes into the "AT&T and APPLE will not unlock phones" bit (which is likely an agreement between them, but it IS possible) -- will there ever be a point where they will unlock them for those of us out of the country? Because of the move, our credit history disappeared and so we have to rebuild it - meaning we don't qualify for a phone contract over here. I can get a pay-as-you-go contract - but that means rebuying my 3G at twice the price I paid for it in the US!!! I'm an honest person, and I'd like to go about this officially if I can. When we move back to the US in a few years, the technology will be better, and I'll purchase a new one then - but right now, I have an 18 month old perfectly good iPhone that is only good as an iTouch. Cmon AT&T - I filed paperwork, you know I"m stuck in the wilds of Wales, tell me you will allow Apple to unlock my phone. Please?

Apple COO Gives No Indication That Verizon Will Offer the iPhone
Bad news for the AT&T haters and the Verizon fanboys. Apple COO Tim Cook spoke at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference. In his remarks, he clearly downplayed the need for Apple to add Verizon . Cook also touched on a subject that's been a sore spot for iPhone users--Apple's relationship with its exclusive U.S. service provider AT&T. iPhone customers dissatisfied with AT&T's service have been hoping that Apple would take on another partner in the U.S., but Cook's comments on the subject Tuesday are unlikely to add much fuel to that speculation (hardly a surprise since Cook called AT&T a "great partner" during last month's earnings announcement.) On Tuesday, Cook noted the advantage of having a single-carrier relationship. Besides simplicity, dealing with one carrier allows Apple to "innovate and work with that carrier on a feature that would be difficult for multiple carriers to provide." Take Visual Voicemail, for example--a feature that Apple and AT&T collaborated on for the iPhone's initial release. While having multiple carriers gives Apple the chance to sell more iPhones, that's largely the case in countries where carriers have what Cook described as "sticky" relationships with their customers, so that it makes sense to ink deals with more than one carrier. In the top 10 markets for the iPhone, Apple has relationships with single carriers in five of them. Of those, three markets feature exclusivity agreements while the other two allow Apple to add other carriers. "We look at each on a country-by-country basis," he added. To Wirelessforeman re iPhone tethering
Please explain why the Apple iPhone web site promotes AT&T iPhone tethering (though in very small print Apple disclaims its availability). When I bought my iPhone in August I did not catch the Apple web site fine print. Why do you allow your technology partner to promote a feature AT&T will support? Sprint has a data plan and phones that tether. I now wish I had never switched from my Sprint HTC Touch to the AT&T iPhone.

ATT & Verizon 3G coverage dispute….
I like to visit USA Today's Technology section of their webpage and saw THIS article. Ahhh, poor AT&T doesn't like Verizon showing the truth of how spotty their 3G coverage is. The Verizon commerical clearly states the maps are compairing 3G coverage only. The article says AT&T doesn't dispute that part of their commerical either. LOL Their just worried people seeing the commerical will think they have no coverage at all in the white areas of the map. I say too bad AT&T. Verizon is not lying in their commerical about your 3G coverage (as far as I'm aware) so they should not have to pull their commerical off the tv. Why don't you take some of that money you nickle and dime us with and actually give us coast to coast 3G coverage!! How you can go 4G some day when you can barly provide 3G?? I'm lucky I live in a 3G coverage area, but I feel sorry for 3/4 of the rest of the US that don't if that coverage map is indeed true. Again, AT&T doesn't dispute that their 3G coverage blows chunks!!!
