The iPhone (and iPod Touch as well) has mail clients. I’m particularly interested in Yahoo! and Gmail. Does anyone know if the email feature works over secure (SSL) connection or plain text? Is there any documentation or an indicator on the device that shows the connection is indeed SSL protected? I’d like to know this before I use the device on an open WiFi network. Thanks in advance.
I have some real problems with how my tethering works. I have an iPhone 3GS on OS 4.1. My computer is a Dell running XP SP3. Generally, my service is Edge and not 3G. I can tether but I have two issues. If I call or receive a call I lose my tethered connection. When this happens I always have to reboot my computer to re-establish the connection. I can get around this particular issue by forwarding my calls to my wife’s phone, but it is definitely not the best solution. Also, if I lose my connection while tethering I have to reboot. This is a real problem due to the amount of time this wastes. I would not complain so much about just losing the connection occasionally, but having to reboot every time is a real issue. My cell service here is pretty bad, and there is not DSL or cable modem available. Is there a solution for this? I am paying for this, so I want it to work correctly. Is there some setting that I am missing on my computer or phone that would help?
Has anyone found out what the connection is between texting and FaceTime? Apparently the FaceTime program won’t work if texting is unavailable on the iPhone. Is there any way around this? Thanks.
I got my iPhone 4 yesterday. After activating with AT&T over the phone, my husband does a test call from the home phone to my iPhone. Well, to my horror, I couldn’t hear him. I was mortified! I said here we go again! Because every phone I had from Verizon had to go back 3-5 times. We had to go to my Moms to swap her phone for mine and on the way I call her thinking maybe it was just the connection at home. I look closer at the front of the phone…… Â As I’m sure you can guess, I never took off the plastic :smileytongue: Â I assumed there were cut outs for the ear piece. I was hoping to leave it on until I got real protection for it. So much for that……
I’ve had two headsets (Both Motorolas) and when I’m talking to people that use AT&T the connection is always bad and I have to turn off the headset and talk on the IPhone…no one else has this problem when I call them (non AT&T)… Â What gives?
