Who’s bright idea was it to put the Send button so close to the virtual keyboard?  I keep sending my message before I’m finished.

I was just curious the main reason you all ended up with the iPhone. Whether it was the 2G, 3G, 3GS or now the 4. Did you get one because you already had AT&T? Or were you with another carrier and switched just to have it?   The iPhone is a different animal, if you will, in the cell phone world. A lot of phones TRY to be like it, and usually fall short. It has lots of bells and whistles and it’s ease of use is a very attractive feature. I knew a lot of people with iPhones before I switched from Verizon. Always disappointed and feeling like I was in 2nd place with any phone I thought was ‘the best for it’s time’, the iPhone always out shined anything I ever had. So I made the switch from Verizon because all the phones I ever had from Verizon never worked right and had to be replaced or repaired several times. I spent more time at Verizon’s ‘tech desk’ then I felt necessary. And most of the time I would either walk out with another refurbished phone, or was given a software update and told it would work ok now. NOT! Plus, I was curious about the iPhone. Last year I went with my friend to AT&T (who works for AT&T corporate) when she was looking to replace her Crackberry. I didn’t have the iPhone yet and was still with Verizon. I had to talk her into getting the iPhone. She didn’t think she would like it because of the virtual keyboard. She poo-pooed it at first, but ended up getting it and never looked back. I got mine a couple months later and then my Husband, Mom, and hubbys Mom…..   I loved my 3GS. I was tickled pink with it. I had one issue with my first phone with battery drainage and Apple replaced it. The phone worked flawlessly after that with only a few App hiccups here and there. But nothing related to the iPhones performance. Now my Mom has it and I still miss it, but I have the iPhone 4 now. Although I love the overall improvements of the 4, I like the shape (I know it’s silly) of my 3GS better. The 4 doesn’t sit in the hand as well and feels like it can slip out of your hand easier. The awesome screen, facetime, camera flash, faster processor, 5 MP camera are all great features. I just with they would of left the shape and didn’t try to mess with the reception by changing the antenna the way they did. That’s just my $.02….

A demonstration of the software keyboard on the Palm-Pre

I’ve found one review says the Touch Pro 2 does not have a virtual keyboard (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/255841/htc-touch-pro2.html) and another that says it does, with screenshots to demonstrate (http://mobiletechaddicts.com/2009/06/06/htc-touch-pro-2-review/). Since Gordon B says he has one that has a virtual keyboard, I guess the answer leans toward a “yes”.

The new commercial in the Palm Pre series is set in totally different mood and melody. The ad is indeed very calm and serene. This is quite a contrast to.

How inconvenient is it for you when you receive a text message that warrants a simple yes or no reply and you have to open up the keyboard to type it? This may.

But I definitely wouldn’t go as far as saying that the iPhone’s virtual keyboard is easier to type on than the Dell’s. It’s much, much smaller, so people with slightly podgier fingers will have a hard time typing accurately. …
